Contacting the Laughing Buddha....
It all depends on what you are after...
The restaurant is owned by Bernie and Patty Desjardins. Most matters of the
restaurant are dealt with by the three managers... Jeff Mac and Paul for the
overall stuff and Holly in the kitchen. Menu design comes from the top and works
down. Sales people can contact the appropriate manager and most items are discussed
among staff, management and owners. Telephone soliciters should just go away
right now. I just can't describe how much we hate the telemarketers... except
for when they get off work and come to the restaurant with funny stories.
Looking for a job? It's not that we want to be snobby or anything... it just
makes it easier to work with people that are a little like the rest of us...
we're a regular Breakfast Club of geeks, jocks, preps, nerds, skids... etc...
but the main thing is that everyone has got to be cool. If you like cool music,
movies... maybe even go to the theatre once in a while, give a shit about what
is going on in the world, and want to actually work rather than spending your
time texting your friends about what you are doing later... then maybe you would
want to work here.
The magic of setting up this website is that I get to choose the drunkest pictures
of my co-managers while making myself look like a great guy. I always say that
we manage under a 'good cop/ bad cop' system, but clearly that doesn't preclude
being a general jerk. We like to torture and ridicule the staff because we think
it builds character... well, that's what we tell the staff anyhow.
Jeff
MacIntyre - Caterings, Food Supplies, Staffing, Staff management,
Scheduling, - Usually referred to as 'Mac', due to the muliple Jeffs around
and our suspicion that he might not be able to remember a number. Jeff came
to us after several years of wearing his pajamas every night to work at The
Grand Nightclub. After a brief stint in financial management, followed quickly
by the collapse of Western Economies (Coincidence?)... Jeff decided that it
would be best if he could get a staff discount on Laughing Buddha desserts and
the only way to do so was to step in as a manager.
Paul
Loewenberg - Operations (purchasing for Liquor, Beer, Wine, maintenance,
repairs, installation), Staffing, Staff management - Still balancing duties
of management and bookings at the Townehouse, Paul came over to the Buddha side
in 2008 to put everything on shelves, build a new kitchen and just never left.
He figured that there wasn't anybody really old on staff to give out sagely
advice... so he should probably stick around and fill in the vacancy... he fixes
things and keeps us all neck deep in the world of Beer and Whiskey. He puts
out the Beer Book, the beer menu, buys the wines...
